Best Computer Processor

While buying a new personal computer, which is the one thing that matters above anything else? It’s the computer’s central processing unit (CPU) or processor. The silicon based processor chips are the brains of a computer that control every single function of the computer. The choice of processor decides the speed of computing and its multitasking ability. If you are planning to buy a new desktop or laptop computer, you would want to know which is the best computer processor to buy in the market. I have presented this writeup with the singular aim of presenting a list of processors that qualify to be the best in market, in terms of functionality, price and overall performance.

Every computer chip today is a piece of silicon etched at nanometer (10-9 m) scales to form billions of transistors that together constitute the central processing unit of a computer. Today chip manufacturers have reached a limit in terms of the number of transistors that can be etched on a silicon chip and have instead opted for multicore chips. There are two, four or six chips that form a computer processor today, by working in coordination. This multicore design has helped chip makers like Intel to surpass the clocking frequency barrier and create faster chips.

Best Computer Processors On the Market

The things that you look for in a computer processor are high speed of computing (represented by a high clocking frequency), multitasking, ability to handle intensive 3D graphics, larger cache size (which grants more working memory) and of course reasonable cost. The best computer processor for the money is expected to possess more than one of these features.

There are more than one way of choosing the best computer processor depending on what you are really looking for. There is the topmost processor that is above all others and beats them in all departments of computing and then there is the budget choice, which offers the best at moderate cost. We will consider both types here. Following is the best computer processor in the market.

Unarguably the Best Computer Processor to Buy – Intel Core i7 980X
If you are looking for simply the best and cutting edge for your laptop or desktop computer, the Intel core i7 980X is ‘The One’. It is simply the best processor on the planet. The most power packed processor launched by Intel, this is a beast of a CPU, with 6 cores, 12 threads, 12 MB smart cache and a maximum clocking frequency of 3.33 GHz that can touch 3.6 GHZ on demand, thanks to Intel’s TurboBoost technology. Its 32nm architecture means that it is a leaner, yet more powerful beast than its 45nm build predecessors. Get over the quad core vs dual core debate, six core processors are here!

This is unarguably the best computer processor for gaming. Its power as a processor is boosted by Intel’s Hyper threading, virtualization and speed step technologies. It is a processor born to rule and conquer gaming aficionados and power users. With all these features, the price tag on the chip is $999. The price is truly justified by the phenomenal performance and brute force powered by its 6 cores and 12 threads. It is truly one of a kind in the computing market today.

Best Computer Processor to Buy On a Budget
The only problem with Intel core i7 980X is the price which sets it beyond the reach of most mortals. However, there is a lot of choice in the lower ranks to choose from. As an AMD versus Intel chips comparison would reveal, top processors belonging to the other chip giant – AMD aren’t in the same class as Intel’s core i7. They are therefore competing with Intel by offering quad core chips at much lower prices. As the war between AMD vs Intel processors rages on, we consumers are the one to benefit from the competition.

As a core i3 vs i5 vs i7 comparison would reveal, there is a lot of choice offered by Intel too, for users with different levels of requirements in terms of features and price. Here are some of the best CPUs to look out for, that fall in the medium and low budget category, for you to choose from.
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4 GHz – $195
Intel Core i5 750 2.66 GHz – $196
Intel Pentium Processor G6950 2.80 – $87(!)
AMD Phenom II X2 550 3.1 GHz – $102
If you are looking for the best computer processor for laptop, any one from the above list will meet your requirements. This best computer processors list above only includes those processors that offer great computing power at medium to low prices. Though they may not reach the dizzying heights of computing power reached by Intel core i7 980X, they are good enough for most gaming applications, as well as office or home use. Choose the one that suits your budget!

Inside you’ll find step by step instructions in layman’s terms, so easy to understand that you’ll spend less time trying to interpret confusing terms and more time actually building your first PC. “I read the whole book just to make sure I would have no confusion. I am pleased to say that I understood everything. You really got straight to the point using no technical jargons that the average person would get lost and confused by. I also watched some of the videos, they were very clear and to the point. As soon as things slow down I will begin to purchase some tools and the supplies needed to build my first computer. I must say I feel like a little kid again because I can’t wait!!!” Cecil S. from Florida “It is easy enough to follow. I bought it to understand a little bit more about computers and of how they are put together. The tutorial is easy to follow and I recommend it to anyone.” Ian Hanks, UK “Very easy to follow. Highly recommended to even the newest of novices.” Ray Maybury, Australia In addition, an exclusive glossary of definitions is provided for all the parts and software you may not know. By understanding the basic parts and steps, you’ll be less likely to break anything and avoid embarrassment returning broken parts to the store. In order to present the e-book in this easy to use fashion, it makes use of the “tabbed” format and a navigation menu, as seen below (click to enlarge). So, you’ll save time finding the information you need more quickly and easily. That’s certainly not getting off on the right foot. Selecting the right parts is just as important as putting them all together. That’s why this e-book is broken down into two key sections to better organize your PC building efforts. Preparation – What does it take to build a computer? No stone is left unturned in this section! I’ll take you by the hand and show you how to select each part required to build your PC. I use real parts as an example and teach you how to select the correct part every time. You’ll discover how this method allows you to select all of your computer parts to ensure compatibility. The truth is, most people get this wrong, but not you! This will ensure you’ll have the most modern parts that will work together. By having the correct parts you’ll eliminate most mistakes made by beginners and avoid returning the wrong parts. No extra driving, shipping, or inconvenience. In addition, you’ll learn where the advanced computer builders buy all of their parts (it’s not where you think). These places will save you money, time, and headaches so you can start building sooner. Building – Finally, you will learn how to install every part of your PC. It even includes these essential steps that most computer tutorials ignore: How to properly configure your BIOS / CMOSDetailed Operating System installation instructions and screenshotsWhat needs to be done the first time you boot your computerHow to make the case LED and switch connections to the motherboardProper configuration of the jumpers on all drives and the motherboardHow to format a hard drive and set up multiple hard drivesThe building section forms the bulk of the “Beginners’ Computer Tutorial.” All of the steps are provided so you don’t need any other resource. Everything is consistent, to the point, and in layman’s terms. “I did build a computer using the ebook–I’m sending this from it now–Pentium IV, 1 GB of memory, 2 hard drives (180 GB and 80 GB), DVD Burner, separate DVD rom, floppy drive,–and I love it! Legal copy of Windows XP Home Edition. The tutorial was worth the money–I did have a little E-mail help from a friend–but no one except me ever laid a hand on building it. Up, running, and on line in a very few hours.” Juan Hackney, US But the building instructions are not just provided in text… “Vivid Details In 3 Unique Formats”You probably learn things differently than someone else building their first computer. That’s why I provide you with multiple methods, offered by no one else, to learn the material. 126 high quality full screen photographs showing the important details.( View a few sample thumbnails & full screen shots )Over 100 pages of instructions and tips.14 videos that are constantly updated, showing each step of the process.( View a free sample video ) So, what does this mean to you? You will have a detailed roadmap to building your first computer. This is the only resource you need to put your PC together. The vivid details provided by the text, photographs, and videos make it near impossible to mess up any step of the process This makes it easier to build your first computer than you’ve ever imagined! You’ll spend your time actually building rather than wasting it looking up instructions. You’ll also avoid returning parts you broke trying to improperly install them. “The Tutorial is excellent! What an achievement on your part. Everything is so well-organized and easy to follow. The videos and photos are very clear. I learned alot just reading through the material and know that I could build a computer with the help of the Tutorial. I’m grateful to have learned about the 7-in-1 floppy drive. I’ll definitely look into that at some point. You’ve obviously put a tremendous amount of thought and effort into the creating of this Tutorial. It most certainly is worth the money. Thanks so much!” Jane Ruppee, US “The material in the E-book was great. I would say that I use your book more as a reference guide as I’m somewhat experienced in upgrading computers. And yes, well worth the money. I liked the step by step proceedures and photos of the building process. If you want to thumb your nose at the computer manufactures and save some money, make a small investment with this e-book. It’s your most important component when building your own system for the first time.” Dan Hunt, US “Just Print And Go”Not only does the “Beginners’ Computer Tutorial” provide you with an unparalleled resource virtually at your fingertips, but it has something else, too. Every page of the e-book is printable, but you are also provided with specially formatted printable pages of the building instructions. These were designed to not only save ink and paper, but save you time. You won’t need to run back and forth looking up instructions on another computer while building. You’ll be less likely to damage a part or mess up a step! “Forget Any Special Training”Most computer manufacturers would lead you to believe that you need special training to build a computer. But let’s not forget they are in business because they’ve created an “illusion” that you need to buy their factory built PC. In addition, other people who provide computer tutorials similar to this one reference advanced training or degrees they’ve acquired. But how does that help you build a computer? So, then what qualifies me to teach you how to build a PC? The truth is, I don’t have any special training in building computers or electronics for that matter, but my guess is you don’t either! I’m just your “average Joe.” There is nothing special that separates me from you; I’m just like you! If I can put together a PC, then it is certainly within your abilities.

Basic Computer Science Key Name for your computer keyboard

It is just a very interesting thought the came into my mind when I try to document some computer code. All of sudden, I just could not remember what the name is for the little character above the number 6 key. “^”, this is it. What do you call it? That might be kids question, but I got those type of questions all the time, both from myself and our co-workers, even I am a software tech guy. :)

So, here we go, I put them into a chart, just for quick reference.

Basic Computer Parts

As computers become smaller and more better equipped in compact space, basic computer parts are getting harder and harder to recognize. Previously, you could make out the basic computer parts because they were all separated. But as notebooks and netbooks are becoming more and more popular, the basic computer parts aren’t that easy to see and know. So here’s an article on what are the basic parts of a desktop computer and their functions.

Basic Computer Parts and Functions

Monitor
The computer monitor is the screen on the computer on which we can see what we are doing. The monitor is an output device which shows us how the computer is interpreting our inputs through various input devices. The monitor is our way of knowing whether the computer has understood our commands or not. The simplest example of this is typing. When we type a word on the keyboard, it comes up on the monitor. By this we know that the computer is able to understand what we are typing.

Keyboard
The second most basic computer part is the computer keyboard. The keyboard is an input device which we use to enter data. Keyboard helps us tell the computer what we want it to do. So whether we want to type some numbers or some letters, we tell the computer what it is we want to type by ‘keying’ in the corresponding letters on our keyboard.

Mouse
The computer mouse is a device which helps us navigate through different programs. The mouse is a kind of facilitator on the computer and helps us give the computer commands which the keyboard cannot. Or commands which would otherwise take a longer time to give on the keyboard. For instance, if you want to start Internet Explorer on your computer, you can press a succession of keys and get there, or simply double-click the Internet Explorer icon with the mouse. The mouse makes a lot of things simpler.

CPU
The Central Processing Unit (CPU) is known as the brain of the computer. The CPU helps the computer receive, analyze and make sense of the input. The CPU also, based on the input, helps computer generate the output. CPU helps coordinate all the inputs and outputs of the computer.

Like a brain has one sense-and-respond wing and a memory wing, so does the CPU. While CPU helps the computer give the outputs based on the inputs, it also helps ‘save’ important stuff. It has a computer memory area which can help in data storage and hence when you save a file, it is saved into the memory of the computer.

CD Drive
The CD Drive is an appendage to the CPU. A lot of times, we need to bring data from another computer to our computer. We bring it in the form of an external memory device known as a CD (Compact Disc). Now in order to transfer the information and data on the CD to the computer, we need to have a device which will help you ‘read’ what’s written on the CD. This is where the CD drive comes in. The CD drive helps the computer read information off the CD.

Printers
A printer is one of the most basic computer parts. Printers are an output device which gives a hard copy of something you’re working on. Suppose you write a letter to someone on your computer, and want the letter to be on paper, then you have to give the print command and the printer on your computer will help print the required document.

So these were the basic computer parts. Apart from these your computer may also have speaker which help you play songs and a modem that helps you connect to the Internet.

Bad Credit Computer Financing

Finance options known as bad credit computer financing have long been available to the public. Before attempting to obtain one of these types of loans, it’s a good idea to get a copy of your credit report for reference. Know your scoreIt is vital to know your credit score before applying for any type of loan for a number of reasons. If your credit is in the range between fair and good, it’s smart to shop around so you don’t end up paying a much higher interest rate than you need to. Similarly, there is no need to try applying for a loan if you don’t meet the credit requirements, as it will only hurt your credit score and waste your time.Get your score onlineIt’s generally very quick and easy to obtain a copy of your full credit report online. It may cost you a bit now, but having this knowledge is definitely going to benefit you when you try applying for a loan. Just knowing your credit score, many lenders will be able to tell you if they can offer you any financing programs right off the bat. This will only save both of you the time and trouble of pulling, and in some cases hurting, your overall credit rating.Start applyingAfter you’ve gotten a hold of your report, you can start looking and calling around to various lenders. In general, you can consider anything over a mid score of 700 to be good credit, anything in between that and 500 is fair, and any lower is poor. Most lenders have the ability to tell you exactly what the minimum score they finance is right over the phone. If they tell you yours is lower than their minimum- save yourself some time and just move on.Again, with good credit shopping around for the best deal is important. Many institutions will want your business, and you need to find which one is going to give you the best deal. If you can’t find information regarding payment options and interest rates online, you can usually just call in and have it given to you over the phone. With bad credit, you don’t have as many options, as fewer lenders are going to want to finance you. Finding companies who specialize in bad credit loans is usually the way to go, as it offers you the best shot at getting financed and finding a suitable loan. These loans might be a little more expensive to maintain, but that is the price you have to pay for the lender taking a higher risk with a bad credit computer loan.Do your homework and get your hands on a copy of your credit report, then start calling around to various lenders and see what financing options you have. There are many institutions offering these services, you just need to find the right one.

At Risk – Computer Screen Glare and Eye Damage

As the amount of technology used in todays world increases, so do the concerns for health and safety. Numerous persons who utilize computers on a regular basis complain of difficulties with their vision. Scientific research conducted by experts in the field indicate that, though it is common for discomfort and fatigue for the eyes, there is no permanent damage from using computers on a regular basis. There was one study, completed in Japan in 2004, which did however, find an increased risk for myopic (nearsighted) individuals who use computers on a regular basis and an incidence of Glaucoma.

NIOSH provides estimated statistics, which indicate more than sixty million Americans alone, suffer from eye related problems from the use of computers. The majority of research and complaints by those who use computers on a regular long-term basis involves eyestrain and headaches. These issues are not the result of the monitor or computer itself, but instead result from a combination of factors. In regards to eyestrain, there are some optometrists who believe it can be of a repetitive nature, similar to carpal tunnel syndrome. Regardless of the fact that there is little to no evidence of permanent eye damage being caused by the computer, it is important for the users to reduce the amount of strain and fatigue.

There are many different possible-contributing factors to eye problems related to computer use. They include:

Using bifocals which are set for a typical reading distance of sixteen inches, and where computer monitors are usually further away than sixteen inches. The set distance of the computer monitor causing the worker to focus on one specific distance for a long period of time. The fact that information on a computer monitor is brightest in the middle then fades out, as it gets closer to the edge. This causes the eyes to overwork to compensate and can result in strain to the eyes. Prolonged use of the computer without adequate breaks, causing increased stress and strain to the eyes. Inadequate or improper placement and/or use of lighting. (glares too much or is too dark). Other eye problems. (allergies, dry eyes, unaligned eye muscles, etc.) There are simple steps one can take to limit the amount of eye fatigue or strain you may experience when working at a computer for long periods of time, including:

Moving the monitor at least twenty inches from your eyes and keeping it at eye level. Taking twenty-second eye breaks and focusing on objects far away during the breaks. Try to incorporate these breaks every thirty minutes of work time. Use of document holders to keep your eyes from constantly having to refocus on different media with different lighting. Reduce the glare on the screen. (eliminate or reducing overhead or direct light, invest in a LCD Glare filter) Use Glare Guard to reduce glare. Rob rotation, such as switching tasks every 30-60 minutes in order to reduce strain on eyes and increase overall productivity by being active. Eyestrain can be prevented or greatly reduced by implementing a few of the changes listed above, increasing the overall health and productivity of the workplace. If your office has yet to make such positive chances, talk to the health and safety director, as it can significantly reduce workers compensation and insurance claims while creating a healthier, happier workplace!

BSI Staff – BSI provides ergonomic information and resources along with products for the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, tennis elbow and other repetitive strain injuries. http://www.repetitive-strain.com
